Abstract:
To further explore the discharge process of low-voltage micro-arcs in air and reveal the impact of various discharge parameters on the morphology of single-pulse craters, single-factor discharge experiments were conducted using air as the discharge medium, with discharge voltage and discharge time as the parameters. The results indicate that raising the discharge parameters raises the discharge energy, however the crater morphology's size does not rise in correlation with the discharge energy. At 30 V discharge voltage, the maximum crater erosion volume was 0.049 mm
3 with a discharge energy of 7.9 J. At 1.25 ms discharge time, the maximum crater erosion volume was 0.017 mm
3 with a discharge energy of 4.8 J. These findings provide theoretical support for selecting discharge voltage and discharge time in low-voltage micro-arc continuous discharge machining.
