Simulation on surface micro-residual of the revolving body machined by orthogonal turn-milling based on UG

  • The surface of revolving body machined by orthogonal turning-milling is formed by the compound relative motion between the milling cutter and the workpiece. The formation mechanism is unique, and the multi-parameters affect its surface micro-morphology. In order to study the influence of cutting parameters on the surface micro-residual of the revolving body machined by the orthogonal turning-milling, the simulation method of machining revolving body by the orthogonal turning-milling was established based on UG, and a virtual five-axis turning-milling machining environment was constructed by Vericut. The influence of the feed per tooth on the surface micro-residual of the revolving body machined by the orthogonal turning-milling was studied by the simulation. The results showed that the surface micro-residual height increases significantly with the increase of the feed per tooth.
