Influence factors of chatter stability in milling on turn-table horizontal machining center

  • This paper mainly study one turn-table horizontal machining center. The influence factors of chatter stability in milling is obtained by combination of experiment and simulation based on the theory of chatter stability lobes in milling, which can be used as a reference for engineers. The influence factors frequency response function of the tool nose is obtained by both impact test on the machine and harmonic response simulation in ANSYS Workbench using virtual material bearing, which then be used to draw the chatter stability lobes of the machine. Furthermore, the influence factors of chatter stability in milling is obtained. The results show that stability in milling has no variation while spindle moving and different tools have the same suitable spindle speed, unsuitable spindle speed and variation law of stability. This conclusion can be used as a reference for machining process design, selection of electric spindle and electric spindle design.
